I have been a faithful watcher of Dancing With the Stars since the beginning (with the exception of Season 2--drat that trip to Europe!). Season 8 premiered last night, and I was extremely disappointed. The dancing wasn't nearly up to the standards of previous seasons, and the level of star quality has stooped to a low that hasn't been seen before--even in the first season! The cast includes a rapper recently released from jail, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, and a former Playboy bunny. I don't necessarily hold my television shows up to strict moral standards, but come on... giving a shout out to the girls in the Federal Detention Center???

Alright, missy, let's get our stories straight here: Lil Kim was in jail several years ago. I told HistoryDiva that I was impressed with her work ethic: she is doing DWTS on top of her gig at "America's Best Dance Crew" and her normal music/touring schedule. Also? Holly wasn't a Bunny, she was Hef's girlfriend. And, yes. HD and I both squealed "It's Holly!!" when we saw her. Shut up! I think it's admirable to have someone publicly overcoming drugs and alcohol to tackle something this difficult. Besides. You're old (hee!). You have no idea the fan base Steve-O's bringing to the table. Anyhoo, last night was the first night. You can't hold them up to any kind of standard just yet! As Napoleon Dynamite would say, GAH.
Sorry for the long post. :-)
'Tis okay... I ranted, therefore, you are allowed to rant, too ;-)
I can see your POV, I just thought Lil Kim's shout out was a bit out of place, bordering on tacky. And since she was the first one out, that kind of spoiled the rest of the show for me.
Hey, LD...Holly was a bunny! She and the other girls posed for the mag twice. They may not have been Miss (insert a month here), but they are still considered bunnies as they posed for the cover and had inside spreads both time. And yes, Karen, I do watch the GND and read the mag and I am not afraid to admit it!
Oh, I agree, it was tacky, but some people just lack a certain amount of class. I loved that the host poked fun at her and it went completely over her head. I also stand corrected on the "Bunny" issue ;-)
