A Room With A View

I started my new job today!
My office has a door (that locks, too! Ooooh!)
This office is in a real building (not a modular unit)!
I do not share my office with anyone else (or a conference room)!
My computer is new (and doesn't take 15 minutes to boot)!
I have a window with a rather nice view (see below)!

I think I'm going to like my new job...

Farewell to SCC

The Road Not Taken
Robert Frost (1874–1963)
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Trivia Funny

The first question at Trivia last night asked which cartoon opening song featured "heroes in a half-shell"...

My Car on MythBusters?

My car is home again! Hopefully for more than a week this time...

Dave really wants to blow up my car after all the problems we've had with it lately. I told him that when he wins the lottery and buys me a better car, we can donate my car to MythBusters, and they can blow it up on television.

Finishing Projects

I actually finished (well, almost finished... dang sewing on the buttons!) a project last night. One of the girls at book club had a baby boy earlier this year, and since his father is in the army, I knit a pair of army-color-inspired bibs.

I also took the opportunity to finish up a dishcloth knit much earlier in the year... and yes, that is the cloth and scissors in a cupholder of a camp chair that is inside my house. No, I have not lived in the South too long--I'm just poor!

Not Again...

Dave and I became well-aquainted with Mall Security on Saturday evening when my car decided to spew gasoline instead of starting...

AAA refused to tow my car... apparently the gasoline makes it a fire hazard. So the nice men of the Alpharetta Fire Department came out to put some kitty-litter-like stuff over the spilled gas and helped determine that it was a problem with my fuel pump (and therefore related to the work I had done at the body shop).

Bye-bye nice fire guys! My car spent the rest of the weekend at the mall in the hopes that the body shop would come get her on Monday morning (which they did).

Friday Funny

I do not mind seeing these used as nature's little speedbumps... they are mean little animals!

Let's Go Cubbies!

My favorite boyfriend loves the Cubs so much that he bought tickets to all three games against the Braves. Since all three were on weeknights (and therefore I would have to be awake and coherent at work the next morning), I told him I would go to two games with him.

Tuesday night, we had this adorable little old man for our usher. He was telling all of the Cubs fans to sit down and shut up. Too funny! (Braves won in the 12th inning)

Wednesday, Dave took his boss who had never been to Turner field. (Cubs won in the 11th inning)

Last night, we watched the rain create a lake. I liked the yellow raincoats on the security people who would have kicked me out if I had gone down to use the tarp over the diamond as a slip & slide like I wanted to... (Game cancelled due to rain)

Dave is trying to convert me into a Cubbies fan...

Look Who's Back!

After spending more time in the shop than with me the past two weeks, I finally have my car back! She even got washed when she got her bumper fixed, so she's all bright and shiny.

I did have to take her back to the family shop yesterday to check her alignment as a result of the spare tire incident, but they got her in and out in the same afternoon, so she should stay out of the shop until her next oil change! And now the steering wheel points up when I'm driving straight, which is always a good thing...

Noms from Grandma

My mother likes to buy treats for her grand-hammies from time to time. One of my favorites to give them is the big stick-o-hammie food that will last them a week.

Trevor says, "nom nom nom" (notice that the treat is almost bigger than he is).

Garfield says, "If I showed you where I hid my nom stick, then I would have to kill you."
