Motivation

Baby Faith's birth announcement came in the mail today, so I convinced myself that I should leave my cross stitch bag at home and take my knitting instead for Tuesday night stitching at The Stitch Store. Fortunately the cross stitchers are pretty accepting of other forms of stitching, so hopefully I'll finish the second burp cloth well before Faith starts kindergarten!

In creating this post, I learned how to fix pictures that are upload sideways onto Blogger from my old digital camera. It didn't take long to get Faith facing the correct direction, and in the process I learned that you can use Paint to convert .jpg files to .png files!

Anti-March Madness

There is this "Madness," and it only comes in March... and my fiance has it. It's the only time he really pays any attention to basketball, and it consumes the entirety of his free time while it's on. Yesterday, I dealt with the madness of Dave and his best friend ogling over their brackets and yelling at the TV by retreating upstairs with my mp3 player, a book, and a knitting project.

How appropriate that I'm reading a book about American flags while knitting with a yarn named "Early American Ombre."

Yes, this burp cloth is the correct number of stitches... I've checked several times! And don't you like how I'm knitting directly from the "wrong" cloth instead of frogging the whole thing and having to wind it into a ball?

Sewing Room 2009

A lot happened in 2009 (most notably Dave and I got engaged!) so I didn't work on "The Sewing Room" very much.

Flag Day 2009

But thanks to the relocation of The Stitch Store (formerly known at The Dogwood Patch) a few exits from my house and Terrie's Tuesday night stitch-ins, there is an end in sight for 2010! I will post pictures when it's ready for backstitching...

Sewing Room 2008

This was the year I busted my butt on "The Sewing Room" to finish the quilt so I could send my mother a picture of my progress for Valentine's Day. It was also the year of the Summer Olympics, which I watched with hoop in hand...

I took pictures of my progress on "The Sewing Room" on random holidays throughout the year.

Sewing Room 2006

When I started my blog, one of my intentions was to post lots of photographs the craft projects I am working on. I started the cross stitch project from my very first post, "The Sewing Room," in the summer of 2006. The first part I stitched was the sewing machine in the center of the room, then I moved on to the chest of drawers behind it.

Friday Funny

At one point in time, I thought I was destined to marry the Prince Felipe of Spain... guess he married Letizia to keep an eye on the queen's sleeping habits.

My Spanish major friends from college may be the only ones who find this funny...

Better Late?

The family of my BFF Heather threw her a baby shower back in February--I wish I could have been there, but no luck finding room in the budget for a plane ticket to California while planning a wedding! I busted my knitting needles (and tapestry needle and sewing needle) getting these two bibs finished in time to mail them without having to overnight the package. But the USPS failed me, and the package didn't arrive till the week after the shower. However, she and her husband loved the set!

I vowed to do better finishing the coordinating burp cloths... but I didn't. I actually finished the second one the day baby Faith was born, March 1st. It took me a week to sit down and finish weaving in all of the loose ends (my least favorite part), and I was so thrilled that I could finally hand wash them and get them in the mail!!! Then I noticed something...

Even at an angle, you can tell that one is not the same size as the other. Dave would give me a great big "DOH!" for this... and my perfectionist self is already planning a Hobby Lobby run to buy more yarn and correct the problem.

Crafting Opinion

I already know that I will never be able to ask Dave about yarn choices or floss colors...

Flip the Birds

I just discovered a website for Georgians committed to changing our state bird from the Brown Thrasher to a chicken. They make some decent arguments in favor of the change, but seriously--a chicken??? It's bad enough that I live just south of the chicken capital of the world and occasionally get stuck behind nasty chicken trucks on 2-lane roads...
