Two Showers Down

Two of the seven baby showers for pregnant friends were this month, so it's time to show off the finished hand-knit sets that I gifted to Beth and to Brandi!

Beth's baby boy, Gavin, is due in January
Yarn: Sugar'n Cream "Country Stripes"
Brandi's daughter, my new niece, is due in February
Yarn: Peaches & Creme "Coral Reef"
Don't you love the cute little daisy button?

Beyond the Challenge

Over the weekend, I finally finished reading Jane Austen's Pride And Prejudice. This technically completes the Jane Austen Challenge I signed up for earlier this year, but since I'm an overachiever, I decided to go above and beyond the the Newbie level (but not quite up to the Lover level) by adding two spin-offs, Mr. Darcy's Diary and Lady Catherine's Necklace. From flipping through both books, they should be easy reads to complete before the end of the year.

Pride and Prejudice is also the last of Austen's six novels that I had never read. I guess it's time to start re-reading those that I read several years ago... or tackle the insane number of spin-offs that are now available (several of which are buried on my "to read" bookshelf).

Friday Funny

What has been up with the weather lately? Two weeks ago, the air conditioning was still kicking on at night, then last week I had to turn on the heat. This week, both are off... but for how long?

The random squirrel reference was just a bonus...

Level 1 Complete

Earlier this year, I picked up a knitting book on clearance at Borders. Friday evening, I was looking for a break from the endless stream of baby bibs and burp cloths, so I picked it up and flipped to the chapter of "starter" projects. The bookmark was finished quickly, and turned out to be pretty cute.

The next project is a basic striped garter stitch scarf. Been there, done that...
So I skipped to the next (and last) pattern in the chapter, a dishcloth. Knitting a dishcloth of just boring garter stitch didn't appeal to me, especially since I have a seed stitch dishcloth in progress... k1, p1 looks so much better as a dishcloth IMHO!
So I consider everything in the chapter complete! On to the next?

Prettiful!

This rainbow greeted me when I turned in my subdivision after work yesterday. What a nice way to start the weekend!

Friday Funny

This is just an excuse to once again plug the University of Oregon's male a cappella group singing "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga. I found a more professional version of the video, and now this song will now be stuck in my head the rest of the day...

It's just an added bonus that I'm throwing in a random Patrick Stewart picture. And no, I'm not ashamed I knew the name of the Picard clone from Star Trek: Nemesis at trivia last night...
