Another Austen Update

Out of the four books I am supposed to read for the Jane Austen Challenge, I have now finished three!

I blogged back in July that I had finished Mansfied Park and was thinking about changing the Austen spin-offs I had originally chosen. Last month I read Edmund Bertram's Diary (and passed it on to Robin, who roped me into this challenge in the first place!) then decided to go for the only other Mansfield Park spin-off I've been able to locate: Mansfield Park Revisited (original title, no?)

Now I have started the final book of the challenge, Pride & Prejudice. I may just finish this thing before time is up!

Projects in Progress

With so many pregnant friends, I have an assortment of baby bibs and burp cloths in various stages of completion in my knitting bag. I have completed a set in "Country Stripes" that just needs all of the ends woven in. I reclaimed the yarn from a set I made two years ago that I never really liked and turned it into a bib. Through extensive google searches to find one more skein, I've discovered that "Lazy Daisy" must be a discontinued pattern. I'm debating about starting the matching burp cloth because I'm not sure if I have enough yarn to complete it without striping with an accent color (and I haven't been able to find an accent color that matches well enough to satisfy my OCD). Sadly, I'm not willing to pay $10 online for a regularly priced $1.79 ball of cotton yarn just because I can't find it at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. So while I think about that for a while, I have a "Country Twists" bib on the needles for a college friend who I see occasionally.

Branching Out

I received a small package from Grandma yesterday that contained a knitting pattern for a circular dishcloth and a sample dishcloth she made. I think it's her way of telling me I'm stuck in a rut using the same patterns over and over again. It's not my fault that I'm up to six pregnant friends and constantly have a burp cloth or baby bib on my needles!

Cast on 15 stitches (size 7 needles)

Row 1... K3, YO, K11, leave 1 st on needle, turn
Row 2... K
Row 3... K3, YO, K11, leave 2 sts on needle, turn
Row 4... K
Row 5... K3, YO, K11, leave 3 sts on needle, turn
Row 6... K
Row 7... Bind off 3 sts, K2, YO, K8, leave 4 sts on needle, turn
Row 8... K
Row 9... K3, YO, K8, leave 5 sts on needle, turn
Row 10... K
Row 11... K3, YO, K8, leave 6 sts on needle, turn
Row 12... K
Row 13... Bind off 3 sts, K2, YO, K5, leave 7 sts on needle, turn
Row 14... K
