His birthday dishcloth was not finished when I got to work this morning. I think I did pretty well for starting last night! Any-hoo, it was finished by lunch (with the exception of weaving in the ends since I forgot to bring a tapestry needle to work with me).

Blue Birthday
Today is Foster's birthday, but we couldn't go to crazy decorating. His tree (Delilah) was decorated with the birthday banner and balloons. I poster-puttied birthday candles around his office.

Oooh! Shiny!
Last night at Trivia, the team was having a conversation that went over my head. No, they weren't debating politics or some random obscure historical fact--they were talking about engagement rings. More specifically, they were talking about the different cuts of a diamond. I can recognize an emerald cut (after all, the emerald is my birthstone), and a heart cut is obvious.
So today, between my boyfriend and a helpful website, I learned about the different shapes and cuts of diamonds. I even found a very pretty ring that features some round cut diamonds!

I just think it would be fun for a tree-lover like me to have a ring with leaves on it...

Pink Zambonis
This past weekend was "Pink in the Rink" for the Gwinnett Gladiators, the local AA hockey team. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend both games (thought I don't necessarily want to admit that I saw the game they lost 3-9). They have special pink jerseys they wear for warm-ups, and the ice is dyed pink--yes, pink--for breast cancer awareness.
And have I mentioned before that I like zambonis?

Surprise Delivery
I was keeping myself busy at work this morning when I hear a student in the hall ask, "Where is Karen's office?"
After lunch, I trimmed the stems to even them up a little... aren't they beautiful?
She handed me this box. There were 18 beautiful red roses inside.
Apparently, Dave wants to spoil me rotten this Valentine's Day.

Today's Commute

I drive 30 miles/45 minutes to work every morning through scenic North Georgia. This morning, God knew that I was running 15 minutes late. He has a wicked sense of humor sometimes, so not only did I have to stop for the longest bus-loading ever in front of a large apartment complex, but I also had to endure slow speeds up and down hills behind a tractor trailer on a two-lane highway for the last 10 miles of my commute.

Calvin's Snowmen
I saw flurries on my way home from work yesterday.
There were still some flurries on my way to work this morning.
In honor of the snow, here are some snowmen funnies!
