Being Productive

I've been pretty productive the past few days. Between the Bears game on Sunday and my regularly scheduled Monday night knitting at Panera, I've managed to finish a burp cloth for one baby set and knit most of a bib for a second baby set (both for Feburary baby showers).

Rufus checked out my knitting, but wasn't impressed and tried to eat one of the ends I need to weave in. Seriously--it got stuck in one of his wheels!

Snow Funnies

In honor of the "Snowpocalypse" in the Atlanta area this week, I am posting these funnies that are going around Facebook. I'm so happy that the temperature made it up into the 40's today so everything can finally melt away!

Snow Day Knitting

Dave and I have been snowed in for two days. It's given me extra time to knit for upcoming baby showers--one this month and three in February! I finished the "Field of Dreams" bib (blue, green, red, and cream) last week, but started on the burp cloth striped with "Warm Brown" this week. In between stripes on the burp cloth, I started (then finished...) the easy garter stitch "Chocolate Ombre" bib. I love the pattern the browns made as I knit, so I can't wait to see how it turns out for the burp cloth (10 more stitches = different pattern). But I have to make a field trip to Hobby Lobby first to get more yarn...
I also caught up on washing my finished hand-knits. The "Black Cherry" dishcloths are for a certain sister's birthday which just happens to be today, and the baby set in "American Stripes" is for the January baby shower. Now I just have to decide which button to use on the bib--cow, teddy bear, or star. Opinions?

New Hammie

Since I won't let Dave get a cat, he won't let me get a new hamster. Instead, I have had to settle for a Zhu Zhu pet; he was half-price at Kroger with all of the leftover Christmas stuff!

Apparently this hamster has issues with pulling hair, so they stuck a warning on his behind...
He's a Kung Zhu battle hamster named Thorn, but I have renamed him Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla. If you know where I got that name from, you rock (School House style!)

My game is actually Cafe World, and I'm hoping my new obsession with Bananagrams may help wean me off of it since it's such a horrible time suck!

Reading Resolution

Instead of making New Year's resolutions about fitness or cooking a new dish each month that I know I'll never keep up with, I've decided to make a reading resolution this year--to finally read the entire Little House on the Prairie series. I received the boxed set for Christmas last year, but was so busy planning for a wedding that any free time for reading was spent trying to keep up with book club, and after the wedding I was trying to finish the Jane Austen Challenge (*and* keep up with book club).

I read Little House in the Big Woods back in third grade as required reading in school, but I never continued the series. Thank you to HistoryDiva who put my collection in order a few months ago (apparently whoever boxed the series doesn't know the correct order)! I've already started re-reading the first book, and perhaps I can finish the series by summer and choose another reading resolution for the second half of 2011...
