All Cute and Minty

Earlier in my knitting obsession, I ran out of yarn on a project *gasp* and had to order more online since I couldn't find any at the local craft stores. Since I already had to pay shipping to get the yarn I needed, I browsed for something to add to my order that wouldn't push me over into the next shipping range... That's when I found Moda Dea: Cutesie in the adorable color "Minty".

It had been sitting in my stash for almost two years when I used it to knit a cute cap for Dave's oldest niece last February (almost as soon as it was on her head, she pulled it back off--but that's a 2-year-old for you). This winter, I paired the remaining skein-and-a-half with some "Mint" colored Bernat baby yarn for a cute--and very soft--striped scarf I finished last night.

Friday Funny

It's below freezing, and Layla *still* wants to play ball? Good luck getting a snow-covered metal lizard to help you with that, LayWray...

Thanks for the picture, Mary!

First Snow!

I looked out of my office window and saw SNOW!

Jane Austen Challenge

My good friend, Robinbird, referred me to a blog that has a Jane Austen challenge. Who am I to resist a good Austen-fest? Plus, I have way too many of books inspired by her and her works gathering dust on my shelf right now...

Between Book Club and my wedding, I figured that I'd aim low, so I'm going for the "Newbie" level. My book choices are:
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Mansfield Park
  • The Pemberley Chronicles
  • The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen
These unread books I also own may help me towards the "Lover" level by the end of the year!
  • Lady Susan, The Watsons, Sandition
  • Just Jane: A Novel of Jane Austen's Life
  • What Would Jane Austen Do?

Doorknobs and Broomsticks

In addition to the hours of cleaning I did today--sweeping, vacuuming, dishes, laundry, bathrooms--I finished a small project I started when I first moved in. My downstairs doorknobs finally all match!

The pantry

The coat closet

Now I just need to find an extra $50-$70 lying around so I can swap out all of the upstairs doorknobs to silver, too! Maybe I should talk Dave into a Home Depot wedding registry...

Remnant Yarn Project

Yarn remnants used (left to right):
  • Sugar'n Cream "Strawberry", used for a bib for my soon-to-be niece after she was born (she just turned 1!)
  • Sugar'n Cream "Lazy Daisy", used for a bib/burp rag set that has yet to be gifted...
  • Sugar'n Cream "Cherry Swirl", used for daisy dishcloths for HistoryDiva's Christmas present last year
  • Sugar'n Cream "Patio Pinks", used for a bib/burp rag set for a former co-worker's first child this past summer
  • Peaches & Creme "Pink Lilacs", used for a butterfly bath cloth/scrubby set for a friend's birthday two years ago
But what is this remnant project supposed to be? I'll tell you when it's finished :-)
